Your notice of marriage is a signed legal statement. This must be given individually by each of you in the district where you live.

THIS APPOINTMENT IS OF HIGH IMPORTANCE - YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO SERVE NOTICE TO BE ABLE TO GET MARRIED OR FORM A CIVIL PARTNERSHIP.

YOU MUST SERVE NOTICE WITH THE REGISTRATION SERVICE IN THE DISTRICT WHERE YOU LIVE. IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE BCP LOCAL AUTHORITY YOU WILL BOOK THIS APPOINTMENT WITH US. IF YOU LIVE ELSEWHERE YOU MUST BOOK THIS APPOINTMENT WITH THE COUNCIL THAT YOU PAY YOUR COUNCIL TAX TO. IF YOU ARE UNSURE, PLEASE VISIT HTTPS://WWW.GOV.UK/COUNCIL-TAX-BANDS

Please note that we are currently extremely busy and must prioritise imminent ceremonies. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK A NOTICE OF MARRIAGE APPOINTMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE A CEREMONY BOOKING.

By continuing, you are booking your appointment to give notice of your intention to get married. This is NOT the booking for your ceremony. PLEASE CAREFULLY CHECK THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AND THAT YOU MEET THE RESIDENTIAL QUALIFICATION AS THESE ARE PRESCRIBED BY LAW. IF YOU DO NOT BRING THE CORRECT DOCUMENTS OR YOU ARE NOT A RESIDENT OF BCP YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL NEED TO BE RESCHEDULED AND YOUR CEREMONY MAY BE DELAYED AS A RESULT. Your ceremony cannot be confirmed until both notices have been given. After the notices have been displayed publicly for 28 or *70 clear days (*dependant on immigration status) a schedule will be issued to allow your ceremony to take place.

If you do not attend your appointment, or you fail to bring the required documentation, we will not be able to take your notice, and you will be charged an administration fee of £35 to reschedule.

Notices are venue specific and only valid for 12 months.

 By continuing and making an appointment for a notice of marriage you are confirming that you both:

  • have read the guidance above
  • have all the required documentation and can meet the residential requirements
  • have made a ceremony booking with the relevant registration office, minister and venue or have decided where the ceremony is to take place
  • agree to our terms and conditions
